According to the experts at Hydrolyze, chronic dark circles are caused by leaking capillaries that are located near the surface of your skin. As the leaking blood starts to oxidize it turns bluish-red in color just like a bruise on your skin. When this happens in the under eye area it looks even worse because the skin around the eyes is so thin compared with the rest of your face and body.

As explained over on the main site, Hydrolyze contains a combination of ingredients designed to repair and reduce dark circles as well as bags, lines and “crow’s feet” wrinkles. An ingredient from France called Biophytex is used to help with capillary strength as well as microcirculation. Eyeliss helps with puffiness and hydration by using a combination of natural plant extracts. Another ingredient, Dermox SRC helps to reinforce your skin’s defenses against new lines and wrinkles around the eyes.

According to the box of Hydrolyze I purchased, the formula is “new and improved” and clinically proven. The product is specifically marketed as being able to fight against the appearance of dark circles and bags. I’m not so worried about the under eye bags – only get them when I’m REALLY sleep deprived, but I am hoping the dark circle treatment works as promised.

The box explains that Hydrolyze works because it combines the proprietary formula of the Hydroxatone Complex with Haloxyl, which was designed specifically to reduce the appearance of dark circles and bags under the eyes. Haloxyl is contained in a few other dark circle products, but by adding the Hydroxatone formula Hydrolyze is able to moisturize and fight the lines and wrinkles most of us are equally worried about.

My first impressions of the product are good – based solely upon the package rather than actual experience at this point. It comes in an attractive blue and silver box. The actual cream is in a really cool-looking blue container made of hard plastic it seems. It contains half an ounce of eye cream (net wt 0.5 oz or 15g).

My plan is to follow the directions provided and see what happens. According to the Hydrolyze box, the under eye cream is to be used both morning and evening. It should be gently applied under the eyes in the morning and on the skin surrounding the eyes in the evening. It can be worn under your makeup or by itself.
